The thief pry's into the door under the handle to get at the lock rods inside the door. Then, they force the rod to move and unlock the door! It's fast, easy and quiet, making this a favorite among thieves. >

Another popular method is to "Punch" the lock straight into the door cavity. This is also very easy to do since the handle and lock holder are all made of plastic!

< The top photo to the left, (Photo 1), shows the first step in a Jimmi' Jammer® installation. Each kit is supplied with a circular style clamp that surrounds the lock holder, helping to strengthen the plastic lock holder.

Next, (Photo 2), the Jimmi' Jammer® plate is shown mounted to the backside of the door handle.

The plate surrounds, and extends up around the back end of the lock cylinder to help prevent the lock from being "punched" into the door.

The plate also covers the seam between the handle and door metal, blocking access to the lock rods inside the door. (Lock rods are not shown here for clarity.)

Once the lock is out of its' holder, the thief can move the lock inside the door with a screwdriver and easily get into your vehicle.

Why do they pry in or punch the lock?

On many vehicles, the factory alarm will not activate when entry is gained using these methods. The alarm is triggered at the door latch, so the alarm brain thinks a key has been used to unlock the door because the rod moved at the latch!

With the Jimmi' Jammer® installed, the lock assembly is shielded from prying and punching.

What about the rear passenger doors and the cargo door on SUVs?

We have discontinued the Jimmi' Jammer® plates for the rear passenger doors. Although it is possible to get in through the rear doors, it is much less frequent and sales of this kit no longer justify production costs. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

For SUV owners, we haven't had any reports of break-in through the rear door handle, so we do not make a plate for this application.
